KPop: Korean Pop, or KPop, started to form in the early 1990s with pioneering groups like Seo Taiji and Boys, who mixed Western music styles with Korean elements. The genre achieved global recognition in the 2010s with the rise of artists like BTS and BLACKPINK, establishing itself as a major cultural phenomenon.
JPop: Japanese Pop (JPop) traces its origins back to the 1960s, drawing from both traditional Japanese music and Western rock. It saw a surge in popularity during the 1990s, with influential artists like Hikaru Utada and groups such as SMAP bringing the genre to international prominence.
